What's the best way to make sure Americans attain a basic standard of education? How should we determine what that standard should be?

: Unclassified Submission from A Republican Contributor The biggest problem with our grade schools right now is that they are using curricula that depend on small class sizes and low student-teacher ratios to be effective. Because of financial constraints, and because the lecture format used in most schools scales poorly, most school districts aren’t in a position to make this class format work.
Since we are unlikely to persuade public officials to make a wholesale change to entire school districts, the solution is to implement magnet schools and vouchers that allow the system to evolve. The entire system is then able to adopt the programs that prove themselves to be successful. |
